Art Ii Biennial 2022
In co-operation with the Oulu2026 –organisation the Art Ii Biennial offered an afternoon of art and art/science discussions in Ii, on a 16th of June 2022. The event highlighted the art and science collaborations of the Biennial.
Art Ii Biennaali tarjosi torstaina 16.6.2022. iltapäivän taiteen, tutkimuksen ja ympäristökysymysten parissa yhteistyössä Oulu2026 organisaation kanssa. Tapahtuma nosti esiin Biennaalin teoksia, jotka yhdistävät tiedettä ja taidetta teeman ’ilma’ alla.
Hanna Husbergin ja Agata Marzecovan projekti Towards Atmospheric Care tarkastelee kollektiivisesti hahmottuvaa ilmakehäämme ja tutkii ilmaa luonnontieteellisenä ja teknoekologisena ilmiönä.
Osana Husbergin ja Marzecovan projektia Iissä nähtiin esitys ”A is for Aurora, C is for Care” joka avasi keskustelun ilmasta ilmassa olevasta muutoksesta. Husberg ja Marzecova esittivät, että jos aiomme luoda merkityksellisen suhteen ilmaan, meidän tulee tarkastella kriittisesti ja yhteisöllisesti ajatuksiamme ja käytäntöjämme niin yhteiskunnallisella kuin yksilötasolla.
Esityksen jälkeen Biennaalin kansainväliset taiteilijavieraat ja kuraattorit kokoontuivat paneelikeskusteluun pohtimaan sitä, miten ilmaa ja ympäristökysymyksiä yleisemminkin voidaan käsitellä taiteen ja tutkimuksen ja taiteen ja teknologian rajapinnoilla.

Hanna Husbergs and Agata Marzecovas project Towards Atmospheric Care provokes discussions over the quality of our collective atmosphere and explores air as a naturalcultural and technoecological phenomenon situated in the nexus of media, science and technological mediation.
Husbergs and Marzecovas performative lecture “A is for Aurora, C is for Care” opened the discussion on air and the sense of change ‘in the air’. Husbergs and Marzecovas claim is, that if we are to form meaningful engagements with air, we need to radically and collectively experiment with thought and practice that position the planetary atmosphere as a shared and indisciplinary concern.
The lecture was followed by a panel discussion with international artists and curators of the Biennial reflecting on air in a way that transcends the isolating effects of data. In the panel there was a discussion about air as common human, animal and plant lifesource, which must be accorded a global significance. Art and science collaborations play some part in putting collective responsibility in the air—a crucial goal for the 2020s and beyond.
